Cucpake Classic Virtual 5K! :)

On Friday I participated in yet another Virtual 5k called the Cupcake Classic!
It was hosted by the lovely Run With Jess!
This is the 2nd year she has hosted this and this is what she has to say about it:

The Cupcake Classic is a fun run for women of all fitness levels.
There are no awards, as fitness offers its own rewards!
You can run, jog or walk.
As sisters, moms, daughters, friends, we make choices every day to lead our families and communities towards a healthier life.
The Cupcake Classic celebrates those daily efforts.
Gather up your friends, go for a run and then treat yourselves with a cupcake...
because the FIT LIFE IS SO SO SWEET!

I've been reading her blog for a while now and find her so inspiring!
I just love opening my e-mail and finding her posts! :)

Now I know I was supposed to eat a cupcake afterwards, but It was the late afternoon when I ran, and Sophie fell asleep as soon as we got in the car, and I absolutely hated to wake her up just for a cupcake! I am taking a raincheck on the cupcake and know I will eat an amazing Pumpkin muffin with cream cheese from Starbucks very soon! I know it's a muffin and not a cupcake, but oh my gosh is it good! Totally worth the substitution!

I'm out of ink in my printer and too cheap to go buy more so, I added my name to my race bib digitally and held it up on my iPad at the end for a picture! Here is my race bib!

Here I am after I finished! I was actually feeling pretty good! :)

I wore my "I run for Cupcakes" Bondi Band and ran with my Sophie girl!
It was just me and my music and the occasional "DaDa" from Sophie!
She says that a lot these days. I guess she loves her DaDa! :)

Here is the oh so cute bling I received!

I'm thinking about hanging this one on the mirror in my car! It's that cute!
There are pink sparkles all the way around it! :)
You have to love pink sparkles and cupcakes!

And here is me and my Sophie girl afterwards! I found a kind momma in the parking lot who was willing to take my picture and not laugh at me for asking her to do so!

If you look closely, you can see on my left hand my Handana!
I won it from Stacy, the lovely momma from Working On My Fit!
OMG yet ANOTHER thing I didn't know I needed that I now can't run without!
I LOVE this thing! I totally need a pink one...like now...
You agree right?!
Find them here if you've never heard of them.
Seriously...Everyone needs one...
This requires a whole other post, but basically it's sweat wicking fabric that goes on similar to a glove and you wipe the sweat (or snot for you cold weather runners lol) from your face. That simple and yet...so necessary! I no longer need a sweat towel! I just use this! Love it!

Back to the run...
As I said before, this was a really good run! Just me jamming to my music and enjoying the beautiful weather! I pushed myself, yet still not too much since I knew I had the Vampire Run 5K the next day. I did a 1 minute run/1 minute walk interval the whole time and really didn't feel tired afterwards! I finished in 45 minutes, but if you have ever run with me, you know thats a really good time for me! My PR is 42, but that was without my stroller. :) I'm really working hard on building up my endurance. I want to be able to run a 5K with my stroller, without stopping. That is one of my main goals right now! I am glad I was able to get out there, have a good run, and earn some cute bling!

Thanks Jess for hosting the awesome Cupcake Classic! I can't wait until next year! :)

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have

Starting over with something new.

Way back in 2012 I started running...for reals... I ran my first Virtual Half Marathon in June and then in the Fall, I started meeting up with a Moms RUN This Town friend 3-4 days a week to walk/run 3-4 miles with our kiddos in the stroller. We started training for the Cowtown Half Marathon and I started dropping weight. By December, I had lost 35 lbs (this was total since having Sophie, not just in 2-3 months) and I looked the best I had looked in a very long while. Then I ran the Cowtown Half in February of 2013, hurt my hip, stopped running, walked the Dallas Rock N Roll Half a month later and then stopped running for good until August of 2013. I then started trying to pick it up a bit here and there while also participating in Stroller Strides.  The thing is...I started gaining weight once I stopped running. Didn't matter if I was doing stroller strides. I just kept getting bigger. First it was just 10 lbs. I kept it at that 10 lb weight gain from August until January
