Moms RUN This Town!

I announced yesterday on my Facebook page that I am now the leader of the Fort Worth chapter of Moms RUN This Town!!! I am so excited to be a part of this! I am working on getting our name out there right now and trying to find more moms to join! We already have 9 moms ready to get together! We will be running a few local races and getting together for running, walking, and chatting! I can't wait to get to know all of these moms more! I'm sure you will be hearing more about it in the future from me. :)

I've been doing really good with my running these past couple of weeks and I'm pretty proud of it!
Yesterday, I got a bunch of stuff together and decided to head to the park with Sophie. Only I decided to run there! I had google mapped my route and it said it was only about 2 mikes. Well I had forgotten that those 2 miles only led to the trail that leads to the park. That trail was another mile long! So 3.1 miles later...We made it! Then we had some swinging fun!

We then sat out on a picnic blanket while Sophie had some snacks and water and played a little. Then we met up with a friend and her daughter and swung some more! It was then time to head back hoe for some lunch! Another 3.1 miles later (and a nap for a certain little one) we made it home. I was smart enough to put suntn lotion on Sophie, but completely forgot about myself...of course...And I had just bought me a brand new tube of Sport SPF 50 the day before! Now I am sunburned! I don't think I will be forgetting it next time! haha :) It was fun though and I ended up running a 10K! It might be something I do every once in a while, but I think I will bring lunch next time and have a picnic! :)

After we got home we did a little of this...

She loves the water! I hope she loves it when we go to the big pool also! :)

In other news...I have signed up to do a Virtual Marathon!

I am so excited to be doing this as well! I have to complete 26.2 miles in 31 days!
I will be recording my time and taking pictures of my Garmin as I go along. There are a bunch of prizes (randomly chosen, so I actually have a chance since I am certainly not the fastest lol) and I have to admit I am praying for a new jogging stroller! Running with this one for almost 10 months has made me realize I need a better one. This one has almost died and is headed to jogging stroller Heaven, but I certainly cannot afford one of those expensive amazing strollers... Oh how I long for a Mountain Buggy or a BOB! lol I know it's silly, but I really think it would make life easier for me! lol :) The "Marathon" starts in 2 days! May 1st! Can't wait! I'll be printing out my Race Bib and everything! :)

I'll be posting how that goes as well!
Lots of exciting things going on for me right now! :)
Plus I get to do it all with my beautiful little princess!

I just love being her mommy! :)
Did I mention she's WALKING NOW! It is CRAZY to watch, but I love it! And she just thinks she is so smart and just walks in circles! lol She is so entertaining! Have I mentioned that I just love her! :)

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have

Starting over with something new.

Way back in 2012 I started running...for reals... I ran my first Virtual Half Marathon in June and then in the Fall, I started meeting up with a Moms RUN This Town friend 3-4 days a week to walk/run 3-4 miles with our kiddos in the stroller. We started training for the Cowtown Half Marathon and I started dropping weight. By December, I had lost 35 lbs (this was total since having Sophie, not just in 2-3 months) and I looked the best I had looked in a very long while. Then I ran the Cowtown Half in February of 2013, hurt my hip, stopped running, walked the Dallas Rock N Roll Half a month later and then stopped running for good until August of 2013. I then started trying to pick it up a bit here and there while also participating in Stroller Strides.  The thing is...I started gaining weight once I stopped running. Didn't matter if I was doing stroller strides. I just kept getting bigger. First it was just 10 lbs. I kept it at that 10 lb weight gain from August until January
