My First 5K! :)

Well...I did it!!! :)

I ran my first 5K!

And had the best little running partner around! :)

And made some new friends! :)

This is Catherine and her little girl!

We met in the group Moms Run This Town and met up for the first time to do the St. Patrick's Day 5K! :)

It was so nice to be able to talk to a fellow running mommy who just "understood".

As for the race...
It was at 4 in the afternoon. We got there at 2 because they had a St. Patrick's Day festival going on and we wanted to just sit and talk for a while before starting! And let our kiddos meet! :) Close to 4 we headed to the starting line to wait for the start. We were told that anyone with jogging stroller had to start at the back. It ended up being kind of difficult to maneuver through the walkers because of this. But I did...through a few anyway. lol

Now I can go ahead and make plenty of excuses like...It was an afternoon run I was not ready for, It was SUPER windy (15-18 mph gusts), it was hot, I wasn't properly fueled, I hadn't drank enough that day because I didn't want to have to pee during the race, I was all excited in the morning and exhausted from chasing a 9 month old by the afternoon, this trail was different than what I was used to running in my Vibrams (aka major blisters), and I wore a running skirt that crept up and rubbed my stomach raw(my own stupidity lol)...yeah I could make all of those excuses...But I won't.

I will just say I did not feel I did my best. I know I can do better. I will do better! I must! For my own sake, I must do better!

BUT...I still made my goal! I set a goal a long time ago that for my first 5K I wanted to make it in at least 45 min. My time? 45 min. 36 seconds! I'm actually a bit proud of that! (This is absolutely embarrassing for me to admit...VERY embarrassing actually) I went from a 16-17 min mile when I started in January to a 14 min mile for this race!! I know this is soooo slow for some, but it's a big change for me! And I'm proud of it! And now I have an official time that I can beat next time! I was

And yes...There will be plenty of other next time's!
I'm a 5K junky now!

Catherine told me about a race through the Fort Worth Zoo coming up next month and I really want to run it! I won't be timed because I will have a jogging stroller (They are anti-jogging stroller lol), but I can still use my Garmin and Nike+ and just use it as a fun practice 5K! :) I hope I get to do it!

And this complete's my very first Race Recap!

Here are some of the pictures from the race!

I may have to order a couple of them just because it was my first race! :)

Park Problem Solved! :)

Looks like I have found my park! It's about 10 min. away driving, but it is totally worth it! My run wasn't all that exciting, but the Park was! :) Here are my new running buddies! :) They are fun to watch while running by! :)  Yes that's my finger...The sun was very bright and I didn't see it! lol :) I just love it all!  Stopping to take pictures! :) I have to Thank my mom who actually Google Maped this Park for me! :) So glad she found it! :)  As for the run, I really don't know how long the trail is, so I don't even know how far I went! I made it all the way around, walking, in less than 15 min. so I am thinking that it is at least a mile. If it is, then I did 3 miles today! If not, then...I don't know! It's times like these that I wish I had my Garmin ! :) For the first 2 laps, I decided to just Run/Walk. I would run 5 min. walk for 1 or 2 min. Then the last lap I just walked the whole time. Just to enjoy it! I just have to say...the hills are

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have
