Beautiful Morning!

It was another beautiful morning for a 5K Run! When my daughter woke me up at 7 this morning, instead of wishing she would go back to sleep and stay in bed while she pulled my hair and jumped on me for 30 min (yes this happens most mornings lol), I was excited to get up and go running! Yes excited!  I got up, put on my running gear, got the princess dressed, and headed out the door! I finally got the jogging stroller cover in the mail and decided to test it out this morning. It doesn't exactly fit well over my jogging stroller, apparently mine is a bit bigger than others, but it did the job well enough. It kept the strong wind from giving her wind burn and hurting her eyes, so I was happy! It also helped her sleep better apparently...

She is so tall that one of her feet actually stuck out from under the cover! lol I love that she will sleep while I run now! She's knocked out! Still oh so adorable in her little hat though! :)

It also makes for some wonderful wind resistance! Ha! I got a strength training session in there this morning too! I just keep telling myself, it will make me stronger! That only helps sometimes. When I'm not trying to run up an incline with the wind slapping me in the face and the stroller trying to roll backwards over me! lol :)

Today's run makes 3 days this week! Go me! I'm hoping to run Friday and Saturday also and then take Sunday off, but we will see! I'm going to attempt to keep a schedule of running 6 days a week, but I won't beat myself up if life happens and I can't. This is my new goal now though! I want to at least look a little smaller in my bathing suit when we take the Princess to the beach this summer! :) I also plan on spending a lot of time in the pool! Especially if we have a summer like last year when most days are over 100 degrees! :) I can't wait! I'm so excited to introduce Sophie to the water! I hope she loves it as much as I do! :)

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have

Starting over with something new.

Way back in 2012 I started running...for reals... I ran my first Virtual Half Marathon in June and then in the Fall, I started meeting up with a Moms RUN This Town friend 3-4 days a week to walk/run 3-4 miles with our kiddos in the stroller. We started training for the Cowtown Half Marathon and I started dropping weight. By December, I had lost 35 lbs (this was total since having Sophie, not just in 2-3 months) and I looked the best I had looked in a very long while. Then I ran the Cowtown Half in February of 2013, hurt my hip, stopped running, walked the Dallas Rock N Roll Half a month later and then stopped running for good until August of 2013. I then started trying to pick it up a bit here and there while also participating in Stroller Strides.  The thing is...I started gaining weight once I stopped running. Didn't matter if I was doing stroller strides. I just kept getting bigger. First it was just 10 lbs. I kept it at that 10 lb weight gain from August until January
