I need a do-over...

This afternoon I headed out to begin Week 4 of C25K...I had high hopes! I knew my "long" run would be 5 min ("short" run was 3 min) and I knew I could do it, because I had already done it a couple of times before. I started running and immediately my right calf started hurting. I was trying to stretch it out while running (yes I did look pretty funny haha) but it didn't work. I kept going though! I refused to quit! After the first 3 min run, I spent my walking break trying to stretch it out. It didn't hurt to walk, just run. Then I started my first 5 min run. It still hurt pretty bad and I just couldn't make myself go any faster. I'm pretty sure anyone could have caught up with me just by walking at this point. I still did not give up... I completed my 2nd 3 min run and then began my last 5 min run. Then the princess decided she was tired of being in her carseat and started crying. So I had to stop and get her out of the carseat and calm her down. After I got her calm and back in the carseat this happened...

So sweet :)

Well apparently when I put her back in the carseat, I hit my garmin on the side and stopped my timer. I figured this out a mile later...I was kinda upset... I was trying my best to do 3 miles again today, but my Garmin only reflected 2 now. So what did I do? I decided to keep walking so my Garmin would say 3 miles. Yes, I am that OCD! haha :) The princess was happily sleeping now, so I walked another mile. All in all I did 4.2 miles! :) Even though my runs were kinda ehhh today, I still got it in and added a nice walk to it! I enjoyed just being outside in the sunshine with my princess!

I do, however, need a running do-over. So next time I head out, I will repeating Week 4 Day 1! :)

  1. girl I am so proud of you for powering through it... most people would have quit and just said I'll try again tomorrow.

Eat some foods high in potassium to help prevent cramps :) I like these:
    chili powder
    cocoa powder
    bananas
    raisins
    pistachios
    pumpkin
    salmon or tuna
    or dry beans (cooked)

Hope this helps a little.... this is some of the nutrition tips we learned in my sports nutrition class for my degree :) Lots of water and avoid salts too....especially in diet soda....

Damien swears by the sport epsom salts that smell minty to soak aches and pains in, but I havent tried that. But he SWWWWWWWWEARS it works lol

Anyway, You just keep doing your thing because you inspire me to keep going. I am so thankful to have another runner friend to talk to, bounce ideas around with and just have for motivation and inspiration in my life.

I would love to eventually run a 5k together just for fun :)

Oh and by the way, your sweet little princess is absolutely beautiful just like her momma!!

Park Problem Solved! :)

Looks like I have found my park! It's about 10 min. away driving, but it is totally worth it! My run wasn't all that exciting, but the Park was! :) Here are my new running buddies! :) They are fun to watch while running by! :)  Yes that's my finger...The sun was very bright and I didn't see it! lol :) I just love it all!  Stopping to take pictures! :) I have to Thank my mom who actually Google Maped this Park for me! :) So glad she found it! :)  As for the run, I really don't know how long the trail is, so I don't even know how far I went! I made it all the way around, walking, in less than 15 min. so I am thinking that it is at least a mile. If it is, then I did 3 miles today! If not, then...I don't know! It's times like these that I wish I had my Garmin ! :) For the first 2 laps, I decided to just Run/Walk. I would run 5 min. walk for 1 or 2 min. Then the last lap I just walked the whole time. Just to enjoy it! I just have to say...the hills are

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have
