Surprise!

Yay!!!

I can now finally tell everyone why I haven't been running, much less moving off the couch,  these past few months!
Cody and I are expecting our first child in June 2011!!! :)

I am already 15 weeks along and going strong!
We told our parents at Christmas and they are all so excited to become Grandparents finally!!! :)

I will have pictures for that up later.
I also haven't felt up to blogging much, because everytime I sit on the couch to start, I fall asleep! haha :)
I'm finally getting some energy back though and since I got my wonderful
Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor
Garmin Forerunner 305 for Christmas from my in-laws, it is time to start moving again!!! :)

I am going to start out slowly, obviously, and just start with walking. If I can make it up to running, that's great...if not, that is ok 2! I just want our baby to be healthy! :)

So now I need all of your mom/runner advice! I need a good jogging stroller! And any other advice you are willing to offer!

Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is wonderful news. I also wanted to let you know I read your comment on Endurance Isn't Only Physical about being at a stand still while pregnant. I thought it was funny because I thought the same thing when I was pregnant. However, I read an article, somewhere, (don't remember where, sorry) that it is safe for overweight/obese women to LOSE weight while pregnant. This article/study was a medically supported one and of course it advised consulting with your personal OB before starting or losing any weight. I hope this information helps keep you moving throughout your pregnancy. And again CONGRATULATIONS!!! It is a wonderful experience.

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have

Starting over with something new.

Way back in 2012 I started running...for reals... I ran my first Virtual Half Marathon in June and then in the Fall, I started meeting up with a Moms RUN This Town friend 3-4 days a week to walk/run 3-4 miles with our kiddos in the stroller. We started training for the Cowtown Half Marathon and I started dropping weight. By December, I had lost 35 lbs (this was total since having Sophie, not just in 2-3 months) and I looked the best I had looked in a very long while. Then I ran the Cowtown Half in February of 2013, hurt my hip, stopped running, walked the Dallas Rock N Roll Half a month later and then stopped running for good until August of 2013. I then started trying to pick it up a bit here and there while also participating in Stroller Strides.  The thing is...I started gaining weight once I stopped running. Didn't matter if I was doing stroller strides. I just kept getting bigger. First it was just 10 lbs. I kept it at that 10 lb weight gain from August until January
