Let your hair down!

Tonight I decided to run with my hair down! I'm not sure why I decided to do this, but I did! My hair stayed straight  the whole time! This is actually an "after" picture! This is also the first time I have run in a t-shirt. I usually run in tank tops. Yeah, probably won't happen again. It was too uncomfortable. I don't think I will be cold after I start going, so I'm not going to worry about longer sleeves during the winter. Unless I can find some sweat wicking shirts. :) The hubby ran along with me again to keep me company. :) He is getting better at motivating me to keep going. I ❤ him for this. :)

As for the run...We ran 2 miles in 29 minutes. Yes I added a minute, but I took 4 days off before this run. Life happened and I just couldn't get out there....I hope this never happens again. My calves were so tight and sore almost the whole run! The weather, however, was amazing! A cool 65 degrees! I'm loving the fall weather! Just not sure what winter will bring! I just hope it doesn't hurt my breathing...We walked a half a mile and then decided to run the last half! It was great! I am almost confident that I will be able to run an entire 5K very soon!

Tonight I found out that the track I have been running, this whole time, is actually 3.6 miles and not 3.1 like I had assumed! Tonight it just felt like something was off...We walked the first quarter mile to warm up. We then ran 2 miles. Then we walked half a mile and then ran another half mile. It just didn't add up. Then I looked it up, and come to find out..That first "quarter" mile is actually longer! It all equals 3.6! Weird, I know! So I have been going farther than I thought I had been all along! So when I completed the whole track in 54 minutes tonight...I may have done almost a 50 minute 5K! Which is closer to my 45 minute goal on race day! I'm so excited! I can't wait to get my Garmin Forerunner, so I can really track my mileage! :)

Pre-run I had half of one of these...

The hubby had the other half. It was so yummy! I liked it better than the Chocolate chip ones!  Also drank half a cup of coffee for a bit more energy. It was the Dunkin Donuts coffee! Oh so yummy! :)

I just wanted to add this picture from the Lamar Cardinals Football game on Saturday! I thought it was a great pic of us :) We got our Red on! (To bad we lost, lol)

  2. I am so proud of you. I have been wanting to start C25K the past week, but Brad won't let me since I got sick. I am still coughing and recovering from laryngitis (did I spell that right?), so he won't let me go out. But I have been reading your blog all day and I am so inspired. I can't wait til you are here so we can help each other (although it looks like you are doing just fine). BTW, that is a cute pic of Cody!

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have

Starting over with something new.

Way back in 2012 I started running...for reals... I ran my first Virtual Half Marathon in June and then in the Fall, I started meeting up with a Moms RUN This Town friend 3-4 days a week to walk/run 3-4 miles with our kiddos in the stroller. We started training for the Cowtown Half Marathon and I started dropping weight. By December, I had lost 35 lbs (this was total since having Sophie, not just in 2-3 months) and I looked the best I had looked in a very long while. Then I ran the Cowtown Half in February of 2013, hurt my hip, stopped running, walked the Dallas Rock N Roll Half a month later and then stopped running for good until August of 2013. I then started trying to pick it up a bit here and there while also participating in Stroller Strides.  The thing is...I started gaining weight once I stopped running. Didn't matter if I was doing stroller strides. I just kept getting bigger. First it was just 10 lbs. I kept it at that 10 lb weight gain from August until January
