Zumba!

I took my first Zumba class this evening! It was so much fun! I got to the gym early today, so I hopped on the elliptical for 30 minutes. I did two 12 minute miles! I was so excited! I have never broken 14 minutes before! :) That started my evening out great! Then I headed to Zumba. I met a couple of people, and they told me how amazing it was. I was still so nervous. The class is pretty big, at least 50 people. The ladies I met recommended I stand close to the front so I could see instructors feet. So I did! This made a big difference. I wanted to be in the back so no one could see me, but I am so glad I chose the front instead. We had 2 instructors. One Female, and one male. They both were great! It was such high energy! We didn't stop moving for the whole hour! It was a struggle only in the fact that I didn't know the routine's or the moves and it was hard to keep up sometimes. This also made it much more fun though! I don't think I can become bored with this! One of the song's the played was  Brittany Spears, Womanizer. This was quite entertaining. They split the class in two and made us stand facing each other. We then began dancing towards each other. It was kind of fun! I never expected that, so it was interesting! I noticed there is a smaller class on Thursday mornings and then the bigger class that evening. I know I want to go back Thursday, I just haven't decided which class yet!

I have one visitor's pass for my gym, so if you want to come with me Thursday, let me know! :) We can Zumba together!

All-in-all it was a great experience! I can't wait to do it again Thursday! Looks like I found my "cross-training" for my running! :)

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have

Starting over with something new.

Way back in 2012 I started running...for reals... I ran my first Virtual Half Marathon in June and then in the Fall, I started meeting up with a Moms RUN This Town friend 3-4 days a week to walk/run 3-4 miles with our kiddos in the stroller. We started training for the Cowtown Half Marathon and I started dropping weight. By December, I had lost 35 lbs (this was total since having Sophie, not just in 2-3 months) and I looked the best I had looked in a very long while. Then I ran the Cowtown Half in February of 2013, hurt my hip, stopped running, walked the Dallas Rock N Roll Half a month later and then stopped running for good until August of 2013. I then started trying to pick it up a bit here and there while also participating in Stroller Strides.  The thing is...I started gaining weight once I stopped running. Didn't matter if I was doing stroller strides. I just kept getting bigger. First it was just 10 lbs. I kept it at that 10 lb weight gain from August until January
