Making Progress!

Last night, Cody and I decided to go for a little run. I was eager to start Week 3 of C25K and the only time I had to do it was after dark. Cody decided to go with me! Of course, he was bored most of the time 1. because I am slow 2. because I have a shin splint in my right shin and it was hurting, which made me go even slower and 3. because he is used to running a mile no problem. I was still glad he was there though! He kept pushing me along. I did pretty good! I was really nervous about the 3 min. runs, but Cody was a great motivator and it really wasn't as hard as I expected it to be! We decided to continue walking after I finished my 2 1.5 min. runs and my 2 3 min. runs. We ended up run/walking a 5K! :) I also ran a whole quarter mile without stopping! I have never actually made it before! It felt amazing! My confidence is increasing, and I am starting to realize that this distant dream might actually become a reality!

I am excited to finish week 3 and move on to week 4. I will be doing 5 min. runs then. I cannot wait for the day where i can just go out for a run and run several miles before I even notice I have done it! :)

I will be leaving for Dallas on Saturday to go visit my brother, cousin, and friends! I am not sure if I will have a chance to run there, but I am hoping I will. They have beautiful parks there, and would love running through one! It is a much needed mini vacation!

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have

Starting over with something new.

Way back in 2012 I started running...for reals... I ran my first Virtual Half Marathon in June and then in the Fall, I started meeting up with a Moms RUN This Town friend 3-4 days a week to walk/run 3-4 miles with our kiddos in the stroller. We started training for the Cowtown Half Marathon and I started dropping weight. By December, I had lost 35 lbs (this was total since having Sophie, not just in 2-3 months) and I looked the best I had looked in a very long while. Then I ran the Cowtown Half in February of 2013, hurt my hip, stopped running, walked the Dallas Rock N Roll Half a month later and then stopped running for good until August of 2013. I then started trying to pick it up a bit here and there while also participating in Stroller Strides.  The thing is...I started gaining weight once I stopped running. Didn't matter if I was doing stroller strides. I just kept getting bigger. First it was just 10 lbs. I kept it at that 10 lb weight gain from August until January
