End of Week 4

I just completed Week 4 of C25K! :)
"Mr. Expendable" and I did another 5K. Yes, it still took us an hour, but had my legs not hurt so bad, we prob would have beaten that time. We usually run an extra quarter mile, but we skipped it tonight.
I ran farther and walked faster and still came out with 1 hour. I am actually pretty proud of myself! I ended Week 4 with a bang!
The run started out really bad, though. My form was all wrong, I was stomping my feet, and it just hurt so bad. It wasn't even my shins as much as my calves. The 1st 3 & 5 min runs were complete torture, but I refused to stop for a little pain. After I started walking a little bit, my calves worked themselves out and I was able to finish the last 3 & 5 min runs faster than I had done before! These are the times I wish I had a Garmin Forerunner so I could know my stats!

My Bondi Band from Shelby at ShelbyStidham.com came in today!!!

I received the multi-colored paisley one!
It's so cute! I love it! I just had to wear it on my run tonight! Thanks Shelby! :)

For dinner tonight, we ate chicken, and I decided to try my first bite of Hummus!

I tried it on a multi grain crispbread. I have to say...it was pretty dang good! :)
I really liked it! If I liked the store bought brand this much, I can't imagine what home made would taste like! So now I need Hummus recipe's also! Let me know if you know of any good ones! :)

I start Week 5 of C25K next week. I have decided to take at least 2 days off since my legs feel like they are on fire. Week 5 is split into 3 different days. The 1st day is 3- 5 min. runs. The 2nd day is 2- 8 min. runs, and the 3rd day is a 20 min run! That 20 min. run will prob loom over my head like a black cloud all week! I know I have been improving, but a whole 20 min! That just seems crazy to me!
I can't wait to see how I do, though! :)

Starting over with something new.

Way back in 2012 I started running...for reals... I ran my first Virtual Half Marathon in June and then in the Fall, I started meeting up with a Moms RUN This Town friend 3-4 days a week to walk/run 3-4 miles with our kiddos in the stroller. We started training for the Cowtown Half Marathon and I started dropping weight. By December, I had lost 35 lbs (this was total since having Sophie, not just in 2-3 months) and I looked the best I had looked in a very long while. Then I ran the Cowtown Half in February of 2013, hurt my hip, stopped running, walked the Dallas Rock N Roll Half a month later and then stopped running for good until August of 2013. I then started trying to pick it up a bit here and there while also participating in Stroller Strides.  The thing is...I started gaining weight once I stopped running. Didn't matter if I was doing stroller strides. I just kept getting bigger. First it was just 10 lbs. I kept it at that 10 lb weight gain from August until January

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have
