Rock N Roll Dallas Recap!

Ive been trying to write this recap for a while, but since I wasn't too happy with the way I ran this race, I just didn't have much motivation to write about it either.

Update: I just found this post in my drafts and realized I never finished it!
Finally finished it and posting almost 4 months later! Oops! :/
The day started out with 25-30 mile an hour winds and freezing cold!
Yes 28 is freezing cold to this Texan! Especially with the high winds!
I got up at about 4:15 in the morning and left the house at 5 to start my hour long drive to Dallas.
I prayed for little traffic at the parking area and it honestly wasn't too bad at all!
My view on the way!

After coffee and driving for an hour, I already had to go to the bathroom when I parked. Luckily they had porta potty's at the parking site, so I waited in a small line and went before getting on the shuttle that was to take us to the start line.
I waited at the porta potty's until my Rockwall MRTT moms showed up and rode over on the shuttle with them.
My friend Catherine, her sis Meghan, and I from Fort Worth MRTT and then the rest are Rockwall MRTT ladies! :)

We had pretty views at the starting line! :)

In this pic, to the right, is the building everyone was huddled against trying to stay warm and out of the wind!

I was so excited to wear my 13.1 Shubeez on my shoes! :)
Everyone should have Shubeez on their shoes!!

Everyone was ready to get started!

And we were off! :)

These ladies wore poodle skirts to run in! They were so cute!
And yes, I was a stalker taking picks of their behinds! lol
I did eventually catch up and say Hi and that I liked their skirts! :)

Starting to go uphil...

Yes it seemed like we were going uphill forever!

There were some VERY pretty houses along the route!

And a lovely view of Downtown Dallas!

My hubby loves the Chive, so I had to take a pic of this! lol :)

This is when we were getting so close to the end!

Then I crossed the finish line!

I was just so happy to be done.
Then my phone died.
I had a friend waiting for me and luckily she was waiting at the finish and found me since I couldn't text or call her!
But I had no way to let my hubby know I was done until I got back to my car!
Which was another mile walk.

I was probably very dumb for even attempting this race.
I walked over half of it and my hip was KILLING me by the end.
I wish I could say I learned my lesson, but I'm pretty sure that if I've already paid for a race, I would still end up dong it again! haha :)
My time was Horrible.

I learned that I am able to push myself mentally when i really want to give up.
There were many medical tents along the way, and I seriously thought about stopping and calling it quits. But I knew if I could just walk over that finish line, I could still be proud of myself.

13.1 miles later, I (stupidly) ran over that finish line and called my self a Dallas Rock N Roll Half Finisher!!!

My Fitbit even called me an Overachiever! haha :)

I ended the day with 15 miles and over 32, 000 steps! That's crazy! :)

Then, I came home to this adorable child who helped me Foam Roll!

She is just so cute! :)

It was a decent race, but I am not sure I would do it again.
The Rock N Roll races have a lot of hype around them, but a lot of it is over priced and over hyped.
I enjoyed the Cowtown half much more and would run that one again over the Dallas RNR!

I am glad that I can say I finished another 13.1 though!!! :)

Park Problem Solved! :)

Looks like I have found my park! It's about 10 min. away driving, but it is totally worth it! My run wasn't all that exciting, but the Park was! :) Here are my new running buddies! :) They are fun to watch while running by! :)  Yes that's my finger...The sun was very bright and I didn't see it! lol :) I just love it all!  Stopping to take pictures! :) I have to Thank my mom who actually Google Maped this Park for me! :) So glad she found it! :)  As for the run, I really don't know how long the trail is, so I don't even know how far I went! I made it all the way around, walking, in less than 15 min. so I am thinking that it is at least a mile. If it is, then I did 3 miles today! If not, then...I don't know! It's times like these that I wish I had my Garmin ! :) For the first 2 laps, I decided to just Run/Walk. I would run 5 min. walk for 1 or 2 min. Then the last lap I just walked the whole time. Just to enjoy it! I just have to say...the hills are

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have
