My 1st Half marathon! :)

Here is my very first Race Bling!!! :)

Me and 5 other Hot Mama's headed out at 5:30 this morning to go run 13.1 miles...For fun! Yes, you can call us a little crazy! :) This was the Moms RUN This Town Hot MaMa Virtual Half Marathon!

I had to bring Sophie along since my hubby had to work today. I wasn't sure if I could make it 13 miles with a jogging stroller, but I knew I had to try! I also wasn't sure Sophie could handle 13 miles, but she did amazing! I was so proud of her! She did get a bit upset around 8 miles, but 2 breakfast bars later, she was back to sleep and happy! HaHa! :)

The first 6 miles just flew by! It was dark for most of it and me and 2 of the girls, Alisen and Kalie, were having a good time chatting! There was a nice breeze and we enjoyed not having the sun beating down on us! I quickly realized (once the sun came up) that we were actually headed towards my apartment! We ran 6 miles to my apartment! I thought that was kind of cool! Around mile 5, the other 3 girls passed us heading back! That was awesome to be able to see how they were doing! We stopped for a minute to see how everyone was and then headed on our way. Then we turned around at 6.3 miles, the breeze cut down a bit and the sun was right in our eyes. It was more rough, but we were still having fun! Around 9 miles is when I hit my wall. I was just so tired, I had blisters on my feet (yeah I need new socks), and my hip started hurting. But of course, we kept on going! Alisen and Kalie took turns pushing Sophie in the stroller and that helped me soooooo much! Thank you ladies! You are amazing!!! They pushed me to keep running when I wanted to stop and helped me try to find a pace that was steady! I wouldn't mind running with them all the time! They are great motivators! :)

Miles 9-13 were not easy for me. I had to keep my mind off of the pain and exhaustion. Luckily Alisen and Kalie were there to help! :) at 12.6ish miles, we reached where we were supposed to turn to head to the car. We knew that we would have to pass the cars to finish that last little bit and I chose the wrong route! We ended up going up and down a hill and then back up and down the hill again to head back to the car! It wasn't a smart move, but I was happy for the downhill at the very end! Then we were done and I threw my hands in there air and yelled WooHoo!!!

I was so proud! I finished in 3:36:45 which is my PR until my next one! HaHa! :) My first goal was to just finish and I had a small goal in my head to finish around 3:30 and I completed that goal as well! Even with walking I think I did great! Especially with VERY little training. My longest run before this was 8 miles and that was back in February! So my most recent long run was only 6 miles!

Now I have a Half Marathon under my belt (and yes I am already looking forward to my next one!) and I know that Sophie CAN tolerate 13 miles in the stroller! Now I know that I can train with her in the fall and she will do just fine! That makes me super happy! :)

Me with my bling!!!

Sophie had just woken up and was ready to get out of that stroller! lol :)

Thank you again ladies for pushing me along the way! You guys are great! :)

Now I'm ready to start training for my next Half! If only the heat would go away! lol :)

Park Problem Solved! :)

Looks like I have found my park! It's about 10 min. away driving, but it is totally worth it! My run wasn't all that exciting, but the Park was! :) Here are my new running buddies! :) They are fun to watch while running by! :)  Yes that's my finger...The sun was very bright and I didn't see it! lol :) I just love it all!  Stopping to take pictures! :) I have to Thank my mom who actually Google Maped this Park for me! :) So glad she found it! :)  As for the run, I really don't know how long the trail is, so I don't even know how far I went! I made it all the way around, walking, in less than 15 min. so I am thinking that it is at least a mile. If it is, then I did 3 miles today! If not, then...I don't know! It's times like these that I wish I had my Garmin ! :) For the first 2 laps, I decided to just Run/Walk. I would run 5 min. walk for 1 or 2 min. Then the last lap I just walked the whole time. Just to enjoy it! I just have to say...the hills are

Cowtown Half Recap!

On Sunday, February 24, 2013 I ran my first official Half Marathon!  Before the race started, I met up with these fellow MRTT ladies!  Pic from How My World Runs It was freezing cold (yes 33 degrees is freezing to this Texan! haha) and I was hoping it wouldn't warm up too much because I run so much better in the cold. I ended up wearing my jacket the whole time and was completely comfortable! We had a wind advisory in affect and I think the wind made it even cooler. This was also my first time to run with my new haircut and with my hair down! Didn't bother me at all! Short hair for the win! :) I was in the very last Corral to start. Yes, I know I'm slow. Get Over it!<---Saw that saying on several shirts throughout the race!  Looks like I need one! haha :) I had to post this pic, because I have no idea what I was doing, nor remember even taking it! Haha! About 20 min before the race, I headed to the porta potty's. Yeah, I should have
